From Carriage House to Creative Hub: The Painted Bride Project Space
We are thrilled to share the completion of the Painted Bride Project Space, a new chapter in our ongoing work at Cambridge Commons in East Parkside.
This design-build renovation transformed a vacant 1850s carriage house—previously a storage garage—into a vibrant, light-filled arts space. With careful attention to the building’s historic fabric, we reimagined its interiors to support gallery exhibitions, performances, rehearsals, and community gatherings. The result is a flexible home for one of Philadelphia’s most iconic arts organizations, the Painted Bride, now deeply rooted in a residential block of West Philadelphia.
The Painted Bride Project Space builds on the momentum of Cambridge Commons, our adaptive reuse of a former municipal parking garage next door, where we’ve brought together nonprofits serving youth, community, and culture. Together, these projects represent our vision for inclusive neighborhood growth through design, development, and collaboration.
This is more than a renovation—it’s an investment in community infrastructure, a celebration of historic preservation, and a reminder of how vacant structures can be catalysts for renewal.
We’re honored to help steward the Bride into its next era, and excited for the creativity this space will host.
