What is the role of an architect in my project?

An architect does more than design a beautiful space — we lead the process from concept through construction. At LO Design, we translate your goals into clear architectural ideas, coordinate consultants, navigate permits and approvals, and guide construction to ensure your project is delivered with care, precision, and intention.

When should I hire an architect?

The earlier, the better. Engaging us at the start allows us to shape the vision, assemble the right team, and avoid costly missteps. Whether you’re evaluating a property, planning a renovation, or starting new construction, we’ll help define the project’s scope, timeline, and feasibility from day one.

How do fees and billing work?

We typically work on a fixed-fee basis for defined phases, with additional services billed hourly. Our proposals break down the scope and fee by design phase, so you understand where your investment is going. We also offer full transparency around consultant and permitting costs.

What is the typical design process like?

Our work moves through five phases: Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Observation. Each step is collaborative and builds toward a fully realized vision. Throughout, Lo Design provides clear deliverables, ongoing communication, and expert guidance.
